  • Singer Chico DeBarge Arrested For Meth Possession

Singer Chico DeBarge Arrested For Meth Possession

The 53-year-old singer has a history of addiction.

R&B singer Chico DeBarge was taken into custody for meth possession last month, according to TMZ.

DeBarge, who had apparently locked his keys in his car, was spotted trying to use a wire to get into his SUV in a Walmart parking lot in Burbank in early November when police were called. Upon arrival, the police searched DeBarge under the assumption that he was trying to break into the vehicle.

Authorities reportedly found methamphetamine in his pockets which led to a search of his vehicle where drug paraphernalia was discovered.

The 53-year-old was taken to Burbank City Jail and is awaiting formal charges, TMZ reports.

    Family History Of Addiction

DeBarge and his famous family members reached the height of fame in the ’80s where they dominated the R&B charts until addiction dismantled their reign. Bobby DeBarge Jr., the second-oldest sibling, enjoyed success with Switch, an 80s R&B/funk band, but his battle with addiction eventually led to his arrest for particpating in a drug-trafficking ring with his brother Chico in 1988.

In 1995, at the age of 39, Bobby Jr. died in prison from AIDS-related complications.

Chico received a six-year sentence and went on to record a comeback album which debuted in 1998.

    El DeBarge

El DeBarge, arguably the most popular member of the famous singing family, publicly battled addiction throughout his successful career. He has been arrested three times for drug posession, spent time in prison for drugs, and struggled with cocaine addiction for decades.

“I wasted more than 16 years that I was on drugs,” El told Mlive in 2010. “The drug thing was more like 22 years. I was out on tour with Chaka Khan. My 22 years of drugs, all that time was wasted. That was me not being dedicated to reality. That was me not being responsible to my children. That was me not being responsible to God, who gave me this gift of music. That was me not being responsible to my fans. That’s why it is such a gift that I have this time now to do it again. I didn’t have to be given this second chance because by the grace of God it was given to me. I think what happened is that I got my will power back.”

El’s comeback tour was halted in 2011 when he entered rehab for addiction treatment, Grio reports. He was arrested for drug possession the following year.

    Other Siblings

In a 2011 interview with Dr. Drew, eldest sister Bunny DeBarge revealed that they believe the family is cursed with addiction. Bunny and her brothers Randy and James spoke candidly about using to stop withdrawals and how addiction has hurt their family for generations.

  • Tom Sizemore Arrested For Heroin Possession

Tom Sizemore Arrested For Heroin Possession

If convicted, the “Saving Private Ryan” actor could be sentenced to a year in jail.

Actor Tom Sizemore has been charged for possession of heroin and faces the possibility of a year in jail and a monetary fine.

TMZ reported that Sizemore, whose film and television roles include Saving Private Ryan and the recent Twin Peaks reboot, was charged with two counts of possession of heroin and two counts of possession of medication without a prescription by the Burbank City Attorney in California, after police reportedly discovered the drugs in his car during a routine stop.

All four charges are misdemeanors, but if convicted, Sizemore could be incarcerated for up to a year in jail and subjected to a $1,000 fine.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sizemore was pulled over by police officers from the Burbank Police Department on January 5, 2019, because his vehicle had expired registration tags and was missing its front license plate.

Arrest records show that Sizemore, who was traveling with a male passenger, consented to a search of his vehicle, during which officers found heroin and another substance, initially described as methamphetamine in early media reports, but labeled in the city attorney’s documents as “medication without a prescription.”

Both Sizemore and his passenger were reportedly released after posting bail.

If Sizemore is convicted, the misdemeanor charges do not carry the possibility of a prison sentence, but he could be sentenced to a year in jail, which is designated by local law enforcement or government agencies for holding inmates awaiting trial or serving short sentences.

A Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Award nominee, Sizemore has a long history of run-ins with the law, including a 2003 conviction for physical abuse and harassment against then-girlfriend and “Hollywood Madam” Heidi Fleiss and a 2007 arrest for methamphetamine possession.

Last year, Sizemore was named in a lawsuit by a former child actress who claimed that he had sexually molested her during the production of a 2003 film. Sizemore denied the charges via a statement from his publicist.

  • "Teen Mom OG" Star Ryan Edwards Arrested For Alleged Drug Possession

"Teen Mom OG" Star Ryan Edwards Arrested For Alleged Drug Possession

The arrest comes at a tumultuous time for Edwards who just announced that he quit Teen Mom OG over a network dispute.

Reality television star Ryan Edwards was arrested on July 23 on what appeared to be charges of drug possession.

Edwards, who recently announced that he and his spouse, Mackenzie Edwards, were leaving MTV’s Teen Mom OG series, was arrested and booked in Hamilton County, Tennessee on what was described by the county sheriff’s office as “previous charges or other reasons,” but listed in its inmate system as possession of a controlled substance.

Edwards, who on a 2017 episode of the series appeared to fall asleep at the wheel of a moving vehicle while allegedly under the influence of Xanax, was previously arrested in March of 2018 for violating probation related to 2017 charges for heroin possession.

According to E! News, no bond was set and Edwards is due in court on August 6.

Radar Online reported that the July 23 arrest was prompted by a petition to revoke for violation of the 2017 charge. He allegedly missed a May 21, 2018 court date, for which a warrant was issued for his arrest. Edwards is alleged to have resisted arrest when officers arrived for him on July 23.

The arrest comes at a tumultuous time for Edwards, who announced just three days prior to the arrest that he quit Teen Mom OG over the network’s alleged decision to write him and Mackenzie Edwards out of the series.

Mackenzie—who announced in March 2018 that she and Edwards were expecting their first child—told E! News on July 20 that MTV allegedly “told us they don’t want to show Ryan as a recovering addict.”

Edwards also alleged that his ex-girlfriend, Maci Bookout, with whom he has a nine-year-old son, refused to participate in filming for the series unless he left Teen Mom and returned to rehab.

“Maci can’t speak to Ryan and Ryan can’t speak to Maci—that was a mutual decision,” said Mackenzie. “But she doesn’t know what’s going on in our lives.” Edwards had previously sought treatment in May of 2017 after the heroin possession charge that year.

The March 2018 arrest for probation violation, which took place at Edwards’ home, also came shortly before Bookout filed for two orders of protection against Edwards, one for her current husband, Taylor McKinney, and the other for Bookout and her three children.

As Us Weekly noted, court documents show that Bookout alleged receiving threatening voicemails from Edwards, who also reportedly appeared at their son’s baseball game while under the influence of heroin and threatened to harm her. A judge granted both orders.
